DAVE MATHEWS BAND played at the AOL concert in Central Park. It was sponsored by the corporation and presented by CAROLINE KENNEDY. I didn't have a ticket - just went. I followed the crowds at E. 85 Street and at the gate, I showed them my press pass. They said I wasn't on the list. So I started to walk with a group of people through the park . In the middle of the cross road, I saw some people heading up stairs towards the white tents. So I followed them. And I followed them straight into the tents where the AOL cocktail reception was going on. Lots of finger food and open bars. I was having a good time and when the concert started, we were near the front of the stage, with nice blankets to sit on. I turned to some of the 20-year olds and told them that the message of some of the songs reminded me of Bob Dylan. They hadn't heard of him - I guess there was a generation gap there. |
