Ted Rebich followed his dream and created MAP, management for artists & production, a theater / art gallery at 42 Ann Street. Even after 9/ll when there was grey ash covering every square inch of the theater which holds 85 seats, and all his friends telling him to abandon the idea, he held fast and is now showing plays and turning it into a cultural center for dowtown. A recent production was THE BONFIRE IS OUT, by Frank Craven who also has a TV show -" What's Ailing/Healing America". The play depicts, an attack on freedom in Catalonia, 1794, Chili, 1973, and 9/ll New York. Frank's talent runs in the family; his grandfather acted with MARLENE DIETRICH in "Pittsburg", and LON CHANEY in "Son of Dracula". There are a series of vignettes that make up the play; covering God, capitalism, politics, religion and everything in between. We look forward to more plays at MAP. |
